6 Movie Reviews

I'm really impressed how fast you animate, "Joy" was around 7 minutes and you finished "Bliss" (which is 10 minutes) 6 months later! (pretty sure you planned all of this out in advance but I hope you get what I mean, I can't even finish a 1 minute animation in six months!). Keep it up man, I can't wait for "Happiness"!

Nice cartoon, dude! btw, nice to see you back on Newgrounds. Your animation is getting better! Can't wait for any future animations that you'll make!

This was an awesome cartoon dude. You have a really good sense of storytelling and pacing. I really enjoy how atmospheric your backgrounds are (especially the lighting in the environments) and how clean your animation is. Your stuff really inspires me and I can't wait for more future cartoons from you!

Man I remember watching the first Animator vs. Animation back in 2009 in middle school. It amazes me how you managed update the environment for "The Chosen One". Who knew "The Chosen One" went from fighting the AOL Instant Messenger guy in Windows XP to disrupting the interface of iPhone apps! I don't think I've seen a cartoon that incorporates live action and 2D animation creatively since eddsworlds's "WTFuture". The story and the interaction was phenomenal and it was a cinematic movie quality experience. Bravo to everyone who worked on this!

You did a very nice job capturing the atmosphere of the game. I never played Animal Crossing before but you perfectly incorporated the feel of the game into your cartoon (makes me want to buy Animal Crossing for the 3ds, maybe one day I will!). I'm glad you avoided the "oh no! I killed a person and another person saw me cover up the evidence, now I gotta kill that person so that he doesn't tell anyone!" trope which has been pretty much overused and cliche so I applaud for you for taking a different direction in the story. It's nice to see a good "parody" for once because anyone who thinks of an Animal Crossing parody would have to think of a psycho villager. The story got dark but interesting at the same time and it was a good plot instead of overly dumb lowbrow humor that you would see in a video game "parody" nowadays. Maybe add a little bit more detail in the backgrounds (ex. inside the villager's house was kinda bland but it works nevertheless) and try experimenting with more exaggerated perspective/foreshortening in your future cartoons. Overall, I love your colors and art style, man. Keep up the great work!

This was actually the first ever eddsworld cartoon that I watched from you but I didn't really get a chance to review this back when you first made it (besides the fact that I didn't know what newgrounds was even a thing until 2013), so here it goes: when I first saw this, I wasn't really
engaged at the time and stop watching before the title intro began (because I was a dumb 13 year old at the time and I had the attention span for 2 minute lego stopmotions instead of full length 10 minute flash episode). When I saw other classmates discussing about eddsworld in middle school at the time, I thought of giving eddsworld another shot. When I watched the episode again (the entire cartoon this time), I thought it was the most awesome thing on the internet, so throughout the years, I watched all the shorts/episodes and eventually becoming a fan. Back to WTFuture, the story was subtle yet witty and charming at the same time. The music fit really well, the backgrounds went really well with the splendid animation, it seriously felt like this show was supposed to be on television.

Looking back, I couldn't believe you were able to upload episodes that frequently (I'm trying my best to finish my first cartoon for the past 3 months and it won't even be more than a minute for crying out loud) and how much you've improved throughout the years (just compare this to the other 10 minute episode, Spares). It has been 2 years since you passed away and I sometimes try to imagine if you never passed away in the first place (I was very eager to watch your now scrapped series, SuperAverage). Time has passed by and animations nowadays require low brow humor/pop culture references or parodies to bring in audiences. You're one of my inspirations for making animations and I hope one day to finally create/lift off my own original series and entertain people in the vain of your eddsworld series. Your legacy has left a lot, Edd Gould, I salute you with a coca-cola can. I'm yearning to see you soon one day.
